Our Story
I'm a Mum and Grandma who has always been a creative and enterprising person and started sewing as a child on a singer hand crank machine! I have always enjoyed unique fabric designs and quality fabrics I especially love Liberty prints and I have been making Liberty handkerchiefs for over 20 years, I often have scraps of fabric which I try to make into new items. I have also been making soft furnishings for clients for many years. In 2024 I rediscovered dressmaking and found it an outlet for my creative brain and it helped me to cope with some challenging times. I am lucky enough to have a sewing studio set up in my home, and it was when Mabel's Mum spotted the Cameras fabric and asked me to make a sweatshirt for Mabel, that my interest in making children's clothing started. I found it to be so enjoyable that I started making sweatshirts for friends and family, including making them for all my great nieces and great nephews for a family reunion. Every child I made them for was so thrilled with them that they wanted to wear them all the time(!) and friends and family started to ask if I was going to sell my creations, hence the seed was sewn for my Etsy shop and then my own website. The Mara in the name comes from my first Grandchild who I am extremely excited to make clothes for. After I started selling online I realised what people most wanted were my Liberty Handkerchiefs and accessories so I decided that is what I would focus on. Liberty tana lawn is the most beautiful fabric to work with and I am totally fascinated with all the designs available. I am constantly coming up with new ideas of products I can make. If you have a specific design or item in mind I can likely create it. Please do get in touch!
